Meet the staff and experts that make up the fertility team at Fertility Care SA:

Mbali Lechler – Recipient supporter

After giving birth to her beautiful boy Ahang, Mbali struggled to fall pregnant again. Having been through several IVFs, she knows first-hand the pain and frustration that comes with infertility. More pressure was added to Mbali and her partner as they watched friends start their own families and unfortunately the stress associated with infertility treatment was too much for the union to survive.

While undergoing her IVF cycles, she met many wonderful women who were in an even more difficult position because they weren’t producing their own eggs. At the time Mbali was running a recruitment agency and working as a model and during this, met many inspiring young women who wanted to help. With this experience, she became one of the founding members of one of the very first egg donation agencies in South Africa. Mbali brings her heart and soul into this venture and truly hopes to be of assistance in making as many dreams come true as possible.

Vicky Mkhize – Social Worker

Vicky has 29 years of experience in helping individuals who are going through life transitions and challenges. She has a MA degree in Industrial Social Work (University of the Witwaterand) Cum Laude; BA Hons; and a Diploma in Social Work. Her role as a consulting social worker within FertilityCareSA is to help FCSA clients address the wider issues of infertility, such as its impact on social, emotional, cultural, career, and workplace spheres of their lives.

Personally, Vicky is fortunate to have six beautiful children and two grandchildren. But she has experienced infertility through her eldest daughter. Vicky was with her daughter through her struggles; failed IVFs, miscarriages, depression, the self-doubt; and has felt her heartbreak. She feels it is difficult for a mother to see your child go through that.

Elienne Horwitz – Dietician

Elienne is a dietician who has written several articles for magazines such as Shape, Fairlady, Cosmopolitan, You, Longevity and Men’s Health, as well as many daily publications. Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Dietician, Elienne holds a BSc degree from University of Witwatersrand, BSc (Hons) degree in Physiology at the University of the Witwatersrand, BSc (MED) Hons degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Cape Town. Her role is to help create a tailor-made programme to ensure nutrient levels are brought to an optimum level, since failing to fall pregnant may sometimes be attributed to a vitamin and mineral deficiency. This will help you maximise your chances of falling pregnant.

Vicky Fabricus – Psychologist

Vicky is a consulting Psychologist who is available to talk to women undergoing IVF treatment with an egg donor, in a confidential and relaxed space. Vicky has worked in the fields of Infertility, Grief, Bereavement, Trauma Counselling, Addiction, Relationship Counselling, Anxiety, Depression and Stress Management. She received a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Cape Town and her Masters Degree in Psychology from University of the Witwatersrand, and has practiced in both Johannesburg and Cape Town. In her sessions, Vicky uses an integrated approach, which draws on methods from multiple theories in psychology to guide her work with her clients.
